October 21, 1951–December 14, 2025
Charlotte requested that her life be remembered through her testimony rather than a traditional obituary.
“When life is called short, we often wonder what to say to family and friends that might make a difference. All I can say is that Jesus—my Savior—the One who never fails, also never makes a mistake. I have done good things and bad things throughout my life, but I have never been happier than I have been since the day I decided to walk with Him. I have won awards and people have acknowledged things I’ve done, yet it all means nothing, because only what I did for Jesus Christ mattered.”
Charlotte’s greatest joy was serving. She faithfully served as an usher and in several hospitality and outreach ministries at Tabernacle of Faith Church. She loved working alongside her dear friend Marilyn—cleaning the church while singing at the top of their lungs—and serving in the food ministry, often laughing as they tried to figure out how to distribute 500 pounds of bacon.
Charlotte was deeply committed to growing in her understanding of God’s Word. She attended various Bible studies, asked thoughtful questions, and lovingly challenged her teachers, including Pastor Finch, the Rev. James Harris (Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester), and Pastor Ward Warren Jr. (First Baptist Church, Ordinary). She didn’t just study the Word—she lived it out loud throughout the community.
Following the passing of her beloved husband, William D. Wright Sr., God placed a deep burden on Charlotte’s heart for widows. Alongside her close friend Marion Randall, God birthed the Widows of Gloucester and Mathews County, Va. Ministry. Charlotte planned, served, and gave wholeheartedly to this ministry until the Lord called her home.
A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at Tabernacle of Faith Church, 7028 Woodsville Road, Hayes, Va. 23072, on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Widows of Gloucester and Mathews County, Va., Attn: Marion Randall, P.O. Box 1389, Hayes, Va. 23072.
