CHARLES ‘MORRIS’ KING II

Charles “Morris” King II, 82, of Gloucester, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025. While our hearts are heavy, we hold fast to the eternal hope we have in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Morris faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he dedicated many years to the Civil Service at Norfolk Naval Station before retiring. Most recently, he worked as a maintenance supervisor at Bay Aging of Gloucester, where he continued to serve his community with diligence and care. Morris loved deeply and lived fully. He cherished his children, grandchildren, and entire family. He found joy in God’s creation—whether camping, being on the water, fishing, or spending time on his beloved boat. He is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Patricia King; his children, Doug King (Dawn) of Williamsburg, Kris Weeks of Newport News, and Sherry Grubbs of Newport News; his stepchildren, Donna Swiney (Terry) Newport News, David (Leighann) of Gloucester, and Daphne (Bobby) of New Bern, N.C.; his grandchildren, Brandon, Brent, Steven, Cody, Michael, Brennen, and Breanne, and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles King Sr. and Evelyn King, and his son-in-law, Ronnie Weeks. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Riverside Hospice, including his LPN and each of the personal care aides, for the professional and loving care provided during Morris’s final days. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester, Virginia, where family will receive friends and loved ones. A celebration of Morris’s life will take place on Friday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at the Parkview Church of God Family Life Center, 1116 Briarfield Road, Newport News, Va. 23605. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, Va. 23666. Though we mourn, we do not grieve without hope—for we know that Morris is now at peace in the presence of his Savior, having heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).

Services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
