CHARLES L. MIDGETTE

Charles L. Midgette of Gloucester, was born in Norfolk, Va., on May 22, 1927 and passed away at home on April 10, 2013.

He served in the Merchant Marines, the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard. After serving in the armed forces he worked as a jet aircraft mechanic at Naval Air Rework Facility, NAS Norfolk for the remainder of his career. He retired in May 1986 with 37 years of service.

Charles enjoyed being with his family, enjoyed good food and especially enjoyed any time he could spend near the water. He was a member of Botetourt Masonic Lodge and treasured the friendships of his Masonic brothers.

Charles was preceded in death by his father; mother; two brothers, and his sister.

He is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 55 years; his son, Karl Midgette; his daughter, Carol Knowles; his granddaughter, Amber Knowles Tortolini and husband Matthew; his granddaughter, Krystle McMahan and husband Robert; his sister, Evelyn Tyler; two sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at Apostles Lutheran Church on April 13, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Botetourt Masonic Lodge at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Riverside Hospice for the loving care he received at home.
