Time is drawing near to participate in one of the region’s largest fundraising events, The Amazing Raise. More than 40 local nonprofit groups will participate in this year’s online giving challenge, which is designed to inspire and empower the community to support organizations in the area.

The event, sponsored by The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia, is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. next Wednesday, Sept. 17 and continue through 6 o’clock the following evening.

According to TCF regional grants management associate Leslie Franklin, The Amazing Raise seeks to promote charitable giving across a wider swath of society than just those who can afford to give thousands of dollars at a time.

Franklin said the website for The Amazing Raise is now live and can be accessed by visiting www.theamazingraise.org. All participating nonprofit organizations have been loaded onto the site.
