CECILIA INEZ GREEN BARTLETT

Cecilia Inez Green Bartlett, 73, departed this life on Monday, June 4, 2012.

She was born Nov. 7, 1938 to the late Clyde N. Green and Eliza Dennis. A life-long resident of Gloucester, she earned her education from T.C. Walker School and then furthered that at Virginia State University with a degree in Education.

She touched and influenced many lives during her 33 years of teaching in Portsmouth at I.C. Norcom High School and in King and Queen at Central High School. She taught both French and English during those years and retired in 1991.

Cecilia was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and educator. She loved life, music and travel. She loved unconditionally and it showed throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother, Clyde Green Jr. and sons, Darrell and Steven.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband of 50 years, Theodore R. Bartlett Jr. of Gloucester; two sons, LaMar R. Bartlett (Jacqueline) of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Orlando A. Bartlett of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Brandon L. Bartlett of Dyersburg, Tenn., Cigi L. Bartlett and Kayla D. Bartlett, both of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Dajah A. Raymond and Jaylen D. Raymond both of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service was held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, with interment in the church cemetery.
