CCS to return to11-man football

Christchurch School Director of Athletics and Co- Curriculars John Dehm announced that the Middlesex
County private school will return to 11-man football in fall 2025, after a successful two year run of fielding eight-man football teams.

Christchurch is enjoying a growing enrollment, with this year’s ninth grade class
the biggest in recent history, a release stated. The positive growth coupled with the increased participation of
multi-sport athletes, makes the return to traditional 11-man football possible, CCS said.

Joel Jorgensen will continue as head coach of the program. Jorgensen came in as coach for the eight-man program two years ago, winning the Virginia Independent Schools Football League Eight-Man State Championship
in his first year. The team returned to the playoffs this year. Before joining CCS, Jorgensen was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University and then at his alma mater, McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. He has a .768 winning percentage.

In addition, VISAA Hall of Fame Coach Ed Homer will return to the squad as offensive line coach for the Seahorses. Combined, the expanded staff will have over 50 years of football coaching experience.
