The winless Christchurch football team traveled to the VISAA #4 ranked Isle of Wight Academy Crusaders on Friday night and the CCS Seahorses came up with a stunning 20-17 come-from-behind victory that knocked the Chargers out of the playoff race. The team’s captain is Kenny Akes, photo at left, the son of Kenneth Akes of Gloucester. “Kenny is an excellent football player and a great leader by example,” coach Ed Homer said of Akes. This year’s CCS squad also includes Dawson Britton, at right, the son of Glenda and Phillip Britton of White Marsh.
