CBGS celebrates 20th anniversary

The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School is celebrating 20 years of educating select high school students from 14 school divisions in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula in an enriched program of marine and environmental sciences.

CBGS Education Foundation will host a fundraising gala from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park Events Pavilion.

“Having CBGS for students in a rural area like ours gives them the opportunity to be challenged through this science- and math-based program,” said foundation board member Elizabeth Johnson.

The foundation invites the community to join in this celebration and to help support efforts to raise funds for scholarships, equipment purchases and other needs, a release stated. Foundation members include current and past CBGS parents, alumni, supportive business and community, the director of CBGS, and a faculty liaison.
