CATHRYN ANN YOUNG

Cathryn Ann Young of Hayes, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 8, 2017. “Cleanliness is a passion of mine.” That’s what Cathryn would say. Only a mother who’d remark after spring cleaning the day prior,” I can see dirt everywhere after I just cleaned!” Cathryn was a remarkable wife to (late husband) Larry A. Young of 44 years, mother of three wonderful sons, Lealand A., John R., and Charles E. Young. Many chapters of Cathy’s life were resolute to working in fields of technology, textiles, labor and more; her sisterhood in Beta Sigma Phi, Disabled American Veterans, and various military support groups worldwide. Many times Cathryn was given astute recognition for her prowess in family matters and well-being. Some would say she careered as a proctor to families where hearts needed support or healing. But Cathryn’s calling to the expertise of childcare exceeded her passion above any monumental task which set her apart from the everyday affair. Cathryn always took to any child no matter the angst or purpose intended; she set the moniker of motherhood wherever her feet touched the earth and young hearts played. She will be loved and missed by so many in her life with smiles and affection. “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility, count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his/her own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:1-4). She is also survived by her sisters, Elaine Halberg and husband, David Halberg, and Dorothy James; brother, Richard Wonderling and wife, Verna Wonderling; her grandchildren, Leigh A. Young, Ashley R. Young, Aaron B. Young, Eina B. Young, Christopher Norris and Jessica Lynn Floyd; great-grandchild, Grayson Floyd; and extended children, Richard Garner and Annette Watson.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, 80 Soles Lane, Dutton, Virginia. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home and Crematory, Gloucester Point.
