CATHERINE LUCILLE HOGGE HAYWOOD

Catherine Lucille Hogge Haywood, 88, passed away peacefully at Walter Reed Convalescent Center on March 30, 2018 after a long illness.

Catherine was born Sept. 23, 1929 and was a lifetime native of Severn in Gloucester County and a member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles. She was preceded in death by husband, Roy Haywood; father and mother, Harvey and Tessie Hogge; brothers, Calvin, Marion, Sam, John and Andrew Hogge, and sister, Alice Horsley. 

Survivors include daughter, Lucille Crittenden and husband Tom; grandson, Tommy Crittenden; great – grandchildren, Camilla and Campbell Crittenden; brothers, Jennings and Tom Hogge (wife Betty Jean); sister, Betty Lyell; special nephew, Calvin Horsley; brother-in-law, Charles Worley; sister-in-law, Vernell Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to Walter Reed Convalescent Center and especially aides Danny Morris and Valerie Byrd, and activities volunteers Glenn and Rose Osborne for the excellent and compassionate care provided. The family would also like to acknowledge longtime friend Carolyn Howlett and her family (Kenny Howlett, Mary Burgess, Pam Hudgins) for their support, visitation, and care for so many years.

A funeral service conducted by Pastor Richard Whiteheart was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday April 3, 2018, at Union Baptist Church. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends at the church Tuesday from 12:30-2 prior to the service.
