Casey, Putt to lead Mathews board in 2013

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors elected Edwina Casey as chair and Neena Putt as vice chair for the upcoming year during an organizational meeting last Wednesday. The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 2, but was postponed at Putt’s request because of a conflict.

County administrator Mindy Moran and her assistant, Julie Kaylor, will continue to serve as clerk and deputy clerk, respectively.

Rather than continuing to have a 7 p.m. meeting every other month, as it has for the past two years, the board will instead have only three evening meetings during the year, in March, June and September. The remaining meetings will be at 1 p.m. All meetings will be held in the historic courtroom on Court Street on the fourth Tuesday of the month except for November and December, when they will be on the third Tuesday.

During discussion of the matter, supervisors agreed that attendance was no higher at evening meetings than daytime meetings.
