Carolyn VanDyke Bruffy, age 62, of Hartfield, passed away on July 14, 2026, after a longtime battle with cancer.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Bruffy of 15 years, and daughters, Cassie Verlander and Ashley Justice; sisters, Vicky Kellam and Michelle Kelley.
Carolyn was a nurse’s aide for 30 years and loved taking care of people. She and special friend, Lezlie Coppola, opened and operated the Sunshine Thrift store in Saluda, Va., for many years.
She loved her family, fishing, birds, flowers, bowling and going to church. She especially loved all six of her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a kind and deeply caring person.
A Celebration of Life, a small gathering of family and friends, will be held on Aug. 1 from 2-6 p.m.
