Carole Traft, 78, departed this life on Feb. 23, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer.

Carole was a longtime resident of Gwynn’s Island, and volunteered at the Gwynn’s Island Museum. She was a member of the Gwynn’s Island Civic League, as well as the Lions Club. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Traft and the second love of her life, Jack Smiley. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Clayton, as well as a great-granddaughter. 

She is survived in death by her children, Vickie (Victoria) Ann DeHaan and husband Frederick, Michael Robert Traft, Joseph Patrick Traft, Sharon Lynn Huth, Michelle Lee Traft, and Jenny Rae Graham and husband Jeffery; her sister, Ruth Pluto, and sister-in-law, Trish Ware. 

She will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, and her Gwynn’s Island family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 23; location to be determined.
