Carol Steele named county administrator

Carol Steele has been named the official Gloucester County Administrator by a unanimous vote of the board of supervisors at its meeting Tuesday night; board member Phillip Bazzani was absent.

Steele has been Acting County Administrator since the last administrator, Brent Fedors, took a leave of absence which eventually led to his resignation.

The appointment comes after an extensive search by the supervisors and the Berkley Group, which was hired to conduct initial interviews for the position. After reviewing a number of applicants from the national search, the board decided Steele is the best fit.

She has worked for the county for 36 years, becoming director of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department in 1986 and the Deputy County Administrator in 2018. Vice chairman Christopher Hutson commented during the meeting that some residents had told him they should have just given her the job in the first place.
