Carol Jean “Jeannie” Mitchell, 62, of Newport News, died Feb. 2, 2019 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Carol worked as a management analyst in civil service, retiring after 40 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and working in her flower gardens, and loved the companionship of her faithful canine, Nicholas. Carol was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johann Pfeffer.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Jones (Micah) and Valerie Williams; mother, Annemarie Tocco; stepfather, Larry Tocco; stepmother, Naomi Pfeffer; brothers, Steven Pfeffer (LaDonna) and Peter John Pfeffer (Katy); niece, Hannah Pfeffer, and nephew, Erich Pfeffer.

The memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Art Wolz, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will follow the service in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
