Carol Elaine Patnode of Hayes, Virginia, was born in Plattsburgh, New York, on December 29, 1943 to the late Martin Higgins and Althea Smith Higgins. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully entered the next stage of life in our Lord on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 81. She was a member of St. James On-the-Glebe Anglican Church, and retired as an office manager of Hampton Roads Academy. Her son, Christopher Patnode, and grandson, Anthony Patnode, preceded Carol in death. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis G. Patnode; daughter; Michelle Needham (John); granddaughters, Rachel and Laura, and great-grandsons, David, Michael, and Cooper. A Celebration of Life Service, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Fife, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. James On-the-Glebe Anglican Church, 6124 Abingdon Glebe Lane, Gloucester, Va. 23061, followed by a reception at the St. James Carriage House. Inurnment will be private. The family requests memorial contributions to St. James on-the-Glebe at the above address.
