Carla Faulkner appointed Mathews registrar

Mathews native Carla T. Faulkner of Mobjack has been appointed to fill the position of voter registrar for Mathews County. She was sworn in on Monday, replacing Ruth Ann Hutson, who retired on Friday after eight years in the office.

 

Faulkner has been a part-time employee in the registrar’s office since November. A graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She said she spent seven years after graduation working in EVB bank’s corporate offices, where she was a project manager. Her responsibilities were implementing new teller systems and opening new branches, among other things.

 

After she married and had a baby, Faulkner said she spent a couple of years as a stay-at-home mom before opening The Tiny Crab, a children’s consignment shop on Main Street in Mathews.
