Carl Ray Belvin, 62, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, after a long-fought battle with cancer. Born on March 23, 1964 in Newport News, he was a lifelong citizen of Gloucester County.

Known as ‘Cool Ray’ within the hot rod community, he was a car enthusiast and frequented many of the car shows. He enjoyed drag racing and participated in multiple races with various vehicles himself. Ray was known to be the number one consumer of 7-Eleven coffee, and you could catch him most mornings having breakfast at Damon’s.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Bolen; siblings, Chris Belvin (Amy) and Laurie Forsythe (Jeff); children, Melissa Hochheim and Lauren Belvin; aunt, Debra Thompson; four grandchildren; six nieces; three great-nieces and a great-nephew.

A life celebration will be held at Petsworth Baptist Church on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. All hot rod community members are welcome to attend with family and friends.
