Career fair to be held in Gloucester

  

Job seekers and employers alike will have an opportunity to gather May 20 for a first-time event, the Middle Peninsula Career Fair & Expo.

The event, which is being presented by the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce, Gloucester County Public Schools, the Virginia Employment Commission and Peninsula Worklink, will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Gloucester High School.

Gloria Williams, executive director of the Gloucester Chamber, said the expo is the result of ongoing conversations with Katie Zanette, a career coach with Rappahannock Community College, and David DeBose with the Virginia Employment Commission. “We became increasingly aware of the need for something like this,” Williams said.

She said the chamber often fields calls from job seekers asking if anyone in the area is hiring and also from employers asking whether individuals have been coming in seeking jobs. “It really feels right to help support the county’s businesses an...
