Career Day

Deputy Will Hargis, K9 Karma and Investigator Michael Rice, from left, of the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, spoke to Mathews High School students about their positions as part of the school’s career day last Thursday. Each of the school’s grade levels participated in a different activity. Eighth graders toured the school’s career and technical education electives, freshmen participated in a reality store, sophomores listened to speakers from different career fields and juniors took part in a virtual reality career program, listened to speakers and reviewed cover letter and resume material. Seniors previously participated in mock interviews to get career-ready, so they had the opportunity to fill out scholarship applications provided by various local organizations....
