Cardboard Boat Regatta

Two local residents were among the top performers in the sixth annual Cardboard Boat Regatta held Aug. 8 at the Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown. Wayne Sterling of Mathews and his granddaughter, Haley Hamilton of Gloucester, took second place in the race before winning the pirate race between boats that were still afloat following the first race. The event was hosted by the Williamsburg Jaycees and benefited the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Greater Virginia Peninsula.
