Car show event comes to Mathews

Mathews Court House is expected to be a sea of cars this Saturday as the Chasing Pavement Vintage Automotive Festival comes to town.

Gwynn’s Island residents Mac and J.C. Casale, owners of the Vintage Gallery on Main Street (formerly Christie Chevrolet), started planning a year ago for the festival, to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday throughout downtown. The day will end with a benefit concert by the rock band Blessid Union of Souls from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Mathews High School.

The day-long festival will feature up to 400 classic and exotic cars, supercars, hot rods, restomods, American and European cars and trucks, and vintage race cars, with a wide variety of makes and models represented.

Entertainment will include a live remote by Bay FM 101.7 from 11 a.m. to noon, music and a live stage act by the Shotgun Blues Brotherhood on the main stage on Brickbat Road from noon to 1 p.m., and the Richmond band Third Wave with Jimmy Buffett- and Beach Boys-style music...
