‘Capture the Magic’ underway at Mathews Memorial Library

The Mathews Memorial Library’s summer youth program, “Capture the Magic,” is underway.

The first week of the program was devoted to exploring the magic of art, said a press release. Events included a presentation by Art Miller, who discussed the artistic qualities of cartoons and demonstrated and shared secrets of his trade, and a trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond to view the “Art of Legos” currently on display there.

The program continues throughout July, featuring such guests as Janet Stoeke, an author who writes stories for young readers; Nina Busby, who will share the secrets of making music; the Virginia Symphony Orchestra Trio, who will present a young people’s concert; and Jerry Ligon, who will share the secrets he has learned about the magic of Mother Nature.

Discovery Day adventures include a trip to the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach on July 29 as the last event in the program.
