Captains, Hurricanes win over weekend

The U14 Captains and the U10 Hurricanes of the Baystars youth soccer program both celebrated wins this past weekend.

The Captains beat Chesapeake United, 1-0, on Sunday. The lone goal was scored by Austin Sutton, assisted by Shane Mosher. Goalie Aaron Green recorded several saves to secure the win.

The Hurricanes defeated the Tidewater Sharks, 8-2, on the road in Williamsburg. Theo Collins and Declan Long both achieved hat tricks, scoring three goals each. Jack Sheridan and Gabriel Franklin also scored one goal apiece. Collins, Long, Sheridan, Brody Meadows and Abel Williams all contributed assists.

Defense was led by Braiden Fry, Declan McDonough and Ryder Jarrell. Spencer Leigh and Bryson Foster split time in the net, both of whom recorded saves.

The Hurricanes had an undefeated record all season and earned first place in the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League for their division. The team will travel to Virginia Beach this weekend for the Coastal Kickfest tournament and will play in the Baystars Surf & Turf Soccer Fest on May 30.
