CAPTAIN LEON R. KING

Captain Leon R. King, 73, of Hayes, passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 11, 2016.

Leon was a waterman for most of his life, and also drove trucks for a while. He was an avid New York Mets fan and loved to hunt and fish as well. Leon was a very skilled carpenter who could make or fix anything. There wasn’t much that he could not do. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. Leon was a wonderful man loved by many and will be sorely missed.

His father, Thomas King; mother, Geneva King; brother, Keith King, and very close friend, Virginia Allen, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann King and son-in-law David Headrick; son, Glen King; brother, Gene King and wife Frances; granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; grandson, Ryan Headrick and wife Ruth; great-grandsons, Ayden Parker and Jayce Harley, and great-granddaughter, Spencer Elizabeth Headrick.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital and his hospice nurse, Brenda Deuell for the excellent care they provided to him.

The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Union Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service to thank God for Leon’s life beginning at 3 o’clock. The Rev. Richard Whiteheart and the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry officiated.
