Capital Focus Jazz Band

Concerts by the Bay will host a performance of The Capital Focus Jazz Band at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Formerly known as the Federal Focus Jazz Band, the group is the Youth Learning Program of the Potomac River Jazz Club. Since 1988, this nationally acclaimed program has provided promising young musicians with a grounding in the fundamentals of jazz, as well as specialized training in the traditional New Orleans styles and their offshoots. The Capital Focus Jazz Band learning program was formed to continue the legacy of such giants of American music as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke, Sidney Bechet and Jack Teagarden. Single tickets are $25 at the door; students are admitted for free. For more information, visit www.concertsbythebay.org, call 757-871-7070, or email concertsbythebay@cox.net.
