Jacob Capin, a 2007 Gloucester High School graduate, picked up a triathlon victory on Saturday, placing first in the Tidewater Sprint Triathlon in Hampton.
Capin was the top overall finisher out of more than 200 competitors in the event which included a 400-meter swim, 10-mile bike ride and two-mile run. He finished the entire event in 44:04.8, nearly three minutes better than the second-place finisher.
Capin, 30, now resides in Delaware, where he is finishing his doctorate in biomechanics.
As a former doctor of physical therapy student (UD 2014), he competed on the UD Triathlon Club team, which he now coaches. Capin will start a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus on Sept. 1.
As a Gloucester Duke, Capin played varsity basketball from 2003 to 2007, when he was named to the All-Peninsula District. He was named an All-American Triathlete and an All-American Duathlete for 2018 by USA Triathlon....
