Cantori Choral Ensemble concert ‘a gift to the community’

Cantori Choral Ensemble will hold a special summer concert at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22, at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg.

“A Red, Red Rose” features poetry about the rose by Christina Rossetti, Robert Burns, Rainer Maria Rilke and others, set to music by such contemporary composers as Ola Gjeilo, Morten Lauridsen, and Eriks Esenvalds.

The 14-voice auditioned choral ensemble is under the direction of Agnes French, with Rebecca Davy on piano, and Mei-Li Beane performing on the violin. “The concert is a gift to the community after a long cultural desert devoid of live music-making,” a release stated.

There will be no admission charge; however, donations to Cantori are invited. For more information, visit www.cantoriwilliamsburg.org.
