Canon’s Gloucester facility recognized by HRSD

Canon Environmental Technologies Inc., a cartridge recycling plant for laser beam printer-toner cartridges located in Gloucester, was one of two entities receiving a Pollution Prevention (P2) Award last Thursday from Hampton Roads Sanitation District, according to a press release from HRSD.

Canon’s recycling program has achieved a cumulative reduction in the use of new resources of 185,000 tons and reduced CO2 emissions by 430,000 tons, according to the company’s website.

The other P2 award went to the combined facilities of Department of the Air Force, Langley Air Force Base, Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

In addition, Canon, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and Waste Management of Virginia were among the 15 organizations recognized by HRSD for exhibiting long-term compliance with environmental permits.
