Canine Companions will host a special screening of the film “Andy: A Dog’s Tale” at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Mathews Memorial Library, Main Street, Mathews.
The award-winning animated short film is about a little puppy with the big dream of becoming a Canine Companions service dog. It is suitable for all ages “and is a great after-school treat for families,” said a press release. It’s also a fun short film for adults.
Canine Companions, a 50-year-old nonprofit organization that provides service dogs free of charge to people with disabilities, recently dedicated its new 220-acre training facility at the historic Eastbrooke Estate in Mathews. The organization invites the public to attend Friday’s gathering and learn not only about how puppies grow, learn, and become service dogs for Americans with disabilities, but also about the part the Mathews facility will play in the lives of puppies growing up in this area.
