Monday was the last deadline prior to Tuesday’s general election for candidates to file their campaign finance disclosure forms. Candidates in both Gloucester and Mathews had little activity during the latest reporting period.
In Gloucester, the candidate with the most money in his coffer is at-large Gloucester County Board of Supervisors candidate John Meyer Jr. He started out with $11,928.47 and has spent $9,975.13 this election cycle, leaving a balance of $1,953.34.
Meyer, who is the Republican nominee for the seat, received $500 from the Gloucester County Republican Committee during the latest reporting period. He also received $500 from Gloucester lawyer Breckenridge Ingles, $200 from Peninsula Heating and Air and $100 from Gloucester resident David King.
His opponent Grant Keller, who is running for the at-large seat as an independent, has $824.11 in campaign funds. He started out with $1,820 and has spent $995.89 so far this election cycle.
