Callis, Burnside top finishers at Williams Wharf Micro-Tri

James Callis was the top male finisher and Beth Burnside the top female finisher in a triathlon held Saturday at Williams Wharf Landing on East River by Virginia Tidewater Trailrunners.

It was the first of three such events planned this summer for the Mathews Micro-Tri Series 2020, said VTT organization Christine Johnson.

The event included a ¼-mile swim, 8-mile bike race and 2-mile run.

Callis completed the course in 53:24.3, followed by Ian Nakayama, 54:44.9, and Doug Parades, 55:47.8.Burnside finished fourth overall in 56:02.0 to take the female crown.

Other participants in order of finish were Elizabeth Lunsford, Helen Morris, Ron Myers, Joel Isley, Missy Johnson and Kat Sharp.
