The Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat Association will be stopping by Hudgins Horn Harbor Marina in Mathews on Monday and Tuesday during its 2022 reunion. The association will be traveling through the bay beginning today and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 7, stopping at different marinas along the way.

At Hudgins Horn Harbor Marina, the public can tour the buy boats docked there from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. There will also be music and food at the marina starting at 5 p.m. The festivities are free to the public.

Boats attending are the Peggy, F.D. Crockett, Emmett H, 55th Virginia, Ella K, Linda Carol, and in addition to the buy boats, Shadow Fay and Sheer Delight.

A buy boat is a boat whose captain would buy a waterman’s catch directly off that waterman’s boat, and then take the catch to one of the large Chesapeake Bay markets such as Crisfield, Norfolk or Baltimore.

Horn Harbor Marina is located at 308 Railway Road in Port Haywood.
