Elvin E. “Butch” Adkins, 68, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

He was born in Hampton, and was the son of the late Dot Lester Adkins and James E. Adkins Jr.

He retired from Philip Morris in Yorktown in 2002 after 19 years as an electrical technician. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. 

He was also preceded in death by his brother, William James Adkins, and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Drusella “Dru” Adkins; sister-in-law, Nancy Steelman; brother-in-law, Dr. Martin F. Smith, a nephew and cousins.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., with a graveside service in the mausoleum at Parklawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 3 p.m.

Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, was in charge of arrangements.
