Busy holiday weekend ahead

The holiday season is fast upon us and, while some will be busy this weekend with Black Friday sales, others may seek a break from the rush of crowds and seek out activities a little more off the beaten path.
Thanksgiving dinners

Today, there are a number of churches and one business offering free Thanksgiving Day meals. In Gloucester, Courthouse Restaurant on Main Street will hold its annual community dinner from noon to 4 p.m.

Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, and Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Cobbs Creek, will hold their community Thanksgiving meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meanwhile, six Mathews churches have come together to offer a traditional turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kingston Episcopal Parish in Mathews Court House.
