Buoys and Gulls Preschool will be coming to Salem United Methodist Church in Diggs for the 2013-2014 school year, offering small classes, hands-on learning, individual attention, music and movement, a nurturing and loving environment and Virginia-certified teachers, a press release stated.

Buoys and Gulls preschool currently holds classes at United Lower Methodist Church in Hartfield; the second location in Mathews County will open in September, in conjunction with the start of the new school year.

Joining the staff at Salem UMC are Leslie Foster and Amy Miller. Foster earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Christopher Newport University. She has 12 years’ teaching experience as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher at Lee-Jackson Elementary School. Miller has taught Sunday school for three years and is currently volunteering in her daughter’s classroom.
