Buffer modification approved for Ware River property

The Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation & Erosion Commission approved one buffer modification during a meeting held Jan. 8 in the colonial courthouse.

 

James W. Maher was granted a buffer modification to the 100-foot Resource Protection Area to construct a 24-foot by 6-foot addition to the lower level master bedroom. The project is situated along the Ware River at 6485 L’s Island Lane.

 

Member Walter Priest made the motion to approve the project with the stipulation that a raised terrace be installed at the corner of the approved project. Linda Walthall, permit technician in the Environmental Programs Department of the Gloucester Codes Compliance Office, said that stipulation further included that the terrace be installed between the proposed addition and the RPA feature to intercept stormwater runoff.
