Brush fire

Members of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad battled a brush fire around 8 o’clock Sunday night on the eastern side of Maundys Creek Road in Maryus. According to AVFR spokesperson Robert Parlett, the fire burned about two acres and did not threaten any structures. Parlett said the fire was fueled by windy conditions and firefighters were on scene about an hour.
