Bruins crush Dukes, 56-7

Gloucester was no match for the Bethel running game last Thursday in Darling Stadium, falling to the Bruins, 56-7, in Peninsula District football action. The win dropped the Dukes to 3-6 overall and 2-6 in the district going into their final game of the season with Phoebus.

The varsity Dukes managed only 44 offensive yards against Bethel while the Bruins racked up 414, including 330 on the ground. Bethel opened scoring in the first quarter with a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown on their way to a 28-0 halftime lead. The Bruins had two more interceptions on the night.

The Dukes got on the board in the third quarter when Brady Barefoot ran a Bethel kickoff back 94 yards for a touchdown, but that would be all for Gloucester.
