BRUCE B. SCHOENFELD

Bruce B. Schoenfeld of Gloucester, my father, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 29, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rae and Alvin Schoenfeld, and by his in-laws, Ann and Larry Russo. He was born on Jan. 23, 1921 in his parents’ house. His grandmother was the midwife who brought him into this world. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Fire Specialist reaching the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. He served in North Africa, Italy and was in the second invasion of France. He worked for Rohm and Hass in Bristol, Pennsylvania, for almost 40 years retiring as a supervisor.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Thelma J. Schoenfeld. She was devoted to him and went on several inland-water trips from New Jersey to Florida. He also leaves behind his son, Bill Schoenfeld (Joanne); granddaughters, Katherine Ferguson (Will), Jennifer Quail (Jarratt), Teresa Bland (Billy) and David Cunningham

He also was blessed with great-grandchildren, Chelsea Dixon (Matt), Ben Bland, Taylor Smith, Adriana Clark, Gabby Smith, Carly Quail and Sarah Smith. He had one great-great-grandchild, Foxx Dixon.

He was a member of the Bristol Masonic Lodge for 67 years as well as being a member of the Royal Arch and Shriners in Pennsylvania. His service will be at Ware Episcopal Church on Sunday afternoon. He will be interred on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where they spent 48 years enjoying their life together.

The family would also like to thank certain members of the Gloucester House for their faithful and dedicated service to him. They are April, Stacey, Jo, Tigh, Erika, Dremain and Samantha. We would also like to thank Hospice of Virginia for their help.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Diabetes Foundation in his name.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Ware Episcopal Church.
