Bronze Cheeks Tanning, located next to Hudgins Nursery at Hayes, recently celebrated its 10th year in business.

In honor of the occasion, the company offered service and product discounts. Susan Cherrie, who resides at Gloucester Point, owns the business with her husband Pat, who works full-time as a transport driver for the Pepsi plant in Lee Hall.

Cherrie said the business has grown through the years, with their daughter, Jillian Cherrie Balduf of Hayes, the store manager. The staff also includes three part-time associates: Breanna Fox of Bena, and Delaney Garrison and Katrina Bulger, both of Hayes.

Bronze Cheeks Tanning offers four levels of tanning beds, with differences in bulb strength and intensity. In all, the shop has 13 tanning beds, including two that tan only the legs.

Last year, the shop added a VersaSpa tanning booth, which sprays a compound over the entire body for an even tan. It does not use tanning bulbs, Cherrie said, but has a dryer to finish off the approximately one-minute-long tanning session.

Cherrie said she prides her shop on a high level of customer service and of keeping the tanning facilities well cleaned. Goggles are provided with each tanning session.

Besides offering an assortment of tanning packages, Bronze Cheeks sells tanning lotions, T-shirts, eyewear and costume jewelry.
