Broadband towers

A drilling crew from GET Solutions of Virginia Beach was in Mathews on Wednesday, Feb. 9, to drill core samples for communications towers that will be built at Mathews Volunteer Fire Department Station 2, Bohannon, and the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad building in Hudgins. The samples will help determine the design and height of the towers. Broadband consultant Jeff Beekhoo said that once designers figure out what’s needed for the bases of the towers, “things will start moving quickly.” Shown at Bohannon Station 2, from left in photo above, are GET crew members Dillon Parks, Curtis Wilder and Bradford Turgeon, MVFD President and Broadband Advisory Board member Donnie Lewis, and Station 2 Captain Lee Smith.
