Broadband meeting Tuesday in Mathews

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold a broadband public information meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street. This is in addition to the board’s regular monthly meeting, which will be held at 1 o’clock that day.

Dr. Andrew Cohill, author of the 2017 Regional Broadband Plan for the Middle Peninsula Planning District, will give a 25-minute presentation and then answer questions, according to a release from County Administrator Mindy Conner.

Cohill is the president and CEO of Design Nine. He is a broadband architect with a background in open access broadband network design and broadband planning. The plan he developed for the MPPDC calls for creating a broadband business enterprise owned by the Pamunkey tribe and providing the tribe with state-of-the-art Gigabit fiber optic services on the reservation.
