An opening for the exhibit “Brighter Days” will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. this Friday, May 2, during First Friday at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
The show features works by three talented black artists from Tidewater Virginia: Krystal Bilberry, Jackie Merritt and Doris Roland.
Using acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal and mixed media, the three artists depict a wide array of subjects, styles, and colors, creating portraits, landscapes, florals, and abstracts. While different, their works complement each other and celebrate the creativity and diversity of Virginia artists.
Live music will be provided by Louis Vangieri.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served, and beer and wine will be available for purchase.
The show will be on display until Saturday, May 31. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
