Bridge work will close Old Pinetta Road beginning Monday

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin work to replace the bridge superstructure on Old Pinetta Road (Route 610) in Gloucester.  The bridge will be closed to traffic during the work.

The superstructure replacement will include new steel beams, a new deck and new guardrails. The existing abutments will remain in place.

The bridge, which carries 190 vehicles per day, will be closed to traffic during the work.  Motorists should follow the posted detour route around the work site

Work is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. on Sunday,  Dec. 22.
