Repairs began Monday on the Gwynn's Island bridge that will increase the weight limit for vehicles while the design and engineering for a permanent repair is underway. Tractor-trailers up to 25 tons and single-unit vehicles up to 21 tons will be permitted on the bridge. In October, weight limit restrictions were placed on the bridge that handicapped the ability of heavy equipment to access the island to conduct normal business operations.
