The Virginia Department of Transportation scheduled inspections of three bridges in Mathews County this week.

Today and Friday, the Route 223 bridge over Milford Haven was scheduled to be inspected, VDOT spokesman Kelly Hannon said. The structure is located between Route 198 and Route 633.

Motorists will be restricted to one lane between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day the inspections are underway, Hannon said.

The schedule called for the Route 3/14 (westbound) bridge over Burke Mill Stream, located at the Gloucester/Mathews County line, to be inspected this Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hannon said that crews were to inspect the Route 14 (John Clayton Memorial Highway) bridge over North End Branch on Monday and Tuesday.
