Brewer to run for Gloucester School Board

Fred A. Brewer Jr., 68, of Gloucester Point, has announced his candidacy for the Gloucester County School Board to fulfill the remainder of former school board member Kellie Lockerby’s unexpired term which ends Dec. 31, 2025.

Brewer previously served three consecutive terms on the Hampton City School Board from 2000-2012, and served as chairman from 2007-2012. He describes himself as a “very ardent supporter of public schools.”

Through his time on the Hampton board, Brewer was involved in the planning and construction of George P. Phenix School and Hunter B. Andrews PK-8 School, which both opened in September 2010. He also helped in the search and hiring processes of three superintendents, participated in student disciplinary hearings and engaged with staff and community stakeholders in the review, revision, deletion and adoption of numerous school board policies.
