Brent and Becky’s Bulbs hosts Honey Bee Day celebration

Brent and Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester was abuzz with activity on Saturday, as the local business hosted a National Honey Bee Day celebration.

The event saw Brent and Becky’s partner with the Colonial Beekeepers Association, Bee City USA—Gloucester County, Breezy Hill Meadworks, Beauty by Nature, Gloucester Master Gardeners, and Boy Scout Troop #113.

Vendors were selling natural bee driven products like mead from Breezy Hill Meadworks, honey-based beauty products from Beauty by Nature and a host of honey and bees wax products from the Colonial Beekeepers Association.

President of the Colonial Beekeepers Association Nate Brauner gave an hourlong presentation on the importance of honey bees as one of the most effective pollinators around. He said the honey bee only improves environments as it doesn’t naturally harm other insects or animals and it doesn’t damage any plant life. The bee only pollinates and produces honey, he said.
