BRENDA JOYCE SHERWOOD

Brenda Joyce Sherwood, 66, of Gloucester, passed from her earthly home on Jan. 28, 2019.

She was born Dec. 17, 1952 in Washington, D.C., to parents, Edward C. and Katherine E. Sherwood, who predeceased her. She was married to Joseph Femiani who preceded her in death in 2014. 

Brenda was a gracious and generous woman who connected with others in a deep and positive way. She devoted her life to selflessly caring for her family and friends, providing a welcoming home and listening ear to all.  Brenda was extremely creative and enjoyed expressing herself through art, writing and entertaining. She was at her happiest when making others happy.

She owned and operated The Happy Hooker Seafood Restaurant at Rowes Point for several years, where she was an exceptional hostess. She loved sporty cars, racing her ’69 Camaro “Swiffer Da Mouse” in the pro stock circuit and representing NHRA as “Miss Universe” for Drag Car Racing. She enjoyed water and boating. She was an animal lover and her favorite pet was Penelope. Throughout her life, Brenda touched many with her kindness, generosity and compassion. 

She is survived by her brother, Clayton Sherwood and wife Leigh; daughter, Kathy Betancourt; son, Paul E. Femiani; grandchildren, Brenda and Maggie Betancourt and Zoey Tyler; nephew, Edward Clayton Sherwood, and niece, Maria Sherwood.

A celebration of her life will be held privately by her family.
